About

Current Positions

I am a Ph.D. student and Graduate Teaching Assistant in Linguistics at George Mason University.

My current research areas are Phonetics/Phonology, Language Acquisition, and Language Documentation. I am studying adult perceptions of acoustic phonetic cues, under the direction of Dr. Matthew Kelley. In the Processing and Acquisition of Language at Mason (PALM) Lab, I am assessing L2 English learners’ use of connections between words in a sentence to inform their predictive processing in subject-verb agreement, with the guidance of Dr. Cynthia Lukyanenko. As a member of the Language Documentation Lab, I am participating in efforts to analyze and produce reading materials in Hawrami Kurdish, under the leadership of Dr. Sylvia Schreiner.

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, I have facilitated and supported students in Introduction to Linguistics, First Language Acquisition, and Applied Linguistics: TESOL Pedagogy.

Educational Background

I received my BA in Interdisciplinary Studies with cognates in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) and Global Studies with a minor in Linguistics from Liberty University. I then received my MA in English with a concentration in Linguistics at George Mason University. I have continued my educational pursuits at GMU as part of the Ph.D. program.
